Getting Started:
Link your Cronometer account with Apple Health to easily track your daily activity and exercise in Cronometer.
If you are an Apple Watch user you can import your activity data into Cronometer through Apple Health.
To link your accounts you will need to have the Cronometer mobile app installed, if you do not have the Cronometer mobile app you can download it from the App Store.
Connecting Your Apple Health / Apple Watch To Cronometer
To connect Apple Health with your Cronometer account:
Open Cronometer > More > Connect Apps & Devices > Apple Health
Ensure you have the correct permissions on in Apple Health. You can choose to ‘Turn All Categories On’ or you can manually select what data Cronometer can read and write into Apple Health. Select 'Allow' in the top right-hand corner to save permissions.
If you are tracking activity with an Apple Watch, we recommend setting your Activity level in your Cronometer account to one that best describes your everyday life. To do this:
Open Cronometer > More > Targets > Energy Expenditure > Baseline Activity Level > Select the Baseline Activity Level that best describes your everyday life.
Manually Backfill Your Apple Health Data
If you notice missing Apple Health data in your Cronometer diary you can use our manual backfill feature to retroactively sync it with your Cronometer diary.
Open Open Cronometer > More > Connect Apps & Devices > Apple Health > Tap on the calendar icon next to Backfill
From here you will be prompted to select the date you wish to backfill from. Once you tap ‘Backfill’ please allow the loading bar to complete before exiting the app.
Biometric Timeseries
If you are tracking biometrics with your Apple Watch, this will be imported as time series data.
It would appear in your Diary like this:
Tap the Heart Rate entry to view what your Heart Rate data looks like throughout the day, it will take you to a chart:
Sleep
To import your sleep data you will need to toggle on Import Sleep.
If you use a third-party app to track your sleep data in Apple Health, you will need to change your third-party app permissions to read only, so sleep data from the third-party app isn't exported back to Apple Health giving you inaccurate data.
Follow these steps:
- Open the Apple Health app
- Tap on Sharing
- Tap on Apps and Services
- Tap on *name of third-party app*
- Toggle off all permissions under ALLOW "*name of third party app*" TO WRITE
Troubleshooting
If your Apple Health data has stopped exporting into Cronometer, you can troubleshoot the issue by following these steps:
1) Manually Backfill Data
- Follow the process outlined here.
2) Uninstall and Reinstall Cronometer, then Reconnect to Apple Health
- To uninstall the app hold your finger on the Cronometer app until a menu appears, then select ‘Delete App’. (Not to worry! None of your data will be lost when you uninstall the app.)
- Reinstall the app from the App Store and reconnect your Cronometer account to Apple Health following the process here.
