The Suggest Food Feature is an engine that searches a curated list of common foods and meals that will help you to meet your remaining nutrition targets for the day. This is a Cronometer Gold feature.
To get suggestions for specific nutrients, use the Ask the Oracle Feature.

Food Suggestions
To use the Suggest Food Feature:
- Tap the Orange + at the bottom of your screen
- Select Suggest Food
You can also access this feature from your Foods tab:
Select Filters
Before getting your suggestions, you will need to select the appropriate filters to get tailored suggestions that suits your diet. If none apply, then leave these sections empty.
- Choose diet options if applicable.
- Choose any meal/food categories to narrow down the options.
- Choose any exclusions.
- Toggle on Include Custom Foods to include these in your suggestions. Learn more about including your Custom Foods here.
- Select the 3 dot menu in the top right corner to reset your filters.
Get Suggestions
When you have applied your appropriate filters, select Get Suggestions at the bottom.
A screen will appear that suggests foods and meals that help complete your targets while also matching your macronutrient goals.
Tap the drop down arrow on each meal suggestion to see the breakdown of the meal:
The solid colours are what you have already consumed today, the striped part of the bar is what this meal will add to your consumption and targets.
Swipe left/right or use the arrows to navigate to see how this meal will affect your Highlighted Nutrients and Nutrition Scores.
Viewing/Editing the Meal Items
You can see what ingredients are used in each meal and you can edit these to more accurately log what you consumed or plan to make yourself.
Within each suggestion, you can tap the drop down arrow next to Meal Items to see the list of ingredients:
To edit the amount of an ingredient, tap on it to bring up the below window. Here you can edit the amount and serving size.
To completely remove an ingredient, select the X beside the ingredient:
To add a new ingredient, select Add Meal Item at the bottom:
When you are ready to add this meal to your diary, select Add to Diary below the nutrition information.
Generate New Results
Don't like any of the meal options that have been suggested? You can generate new options until you find the ones you like.
At the bottom of the list of meals, select Generate New Results
A whole new list will appear. You can keep selecting Generate New Results.
Don't like one particular meal? You can remove that individually from your suggestions list:
1. Swipe left on the meal
2. Choose to either Remove Once or Always Exclude
Including Custom Foods
When you toggle on Include Custom Foods in your filter settings, you will see this message pop up:
This means that your custom foods may not have specific categories or tags applied to it that our Suggest Food feature can use to either include it or exclude it. For example, you may have created a custom food with dairy products, but it does not have the dairy label applied to it.
However, you can apply these categories and tags from your account on our website. You will need to log into your account here https://cronometer.com/login/ and you can learn about adding these tags here
Viewing/Editing the Meal Items in your Diary
Once you have added a suggested meal to your Diary, you can see the list of ingredients by using our Adjust Meal feature:
Swipe right on the meal in your Diary > tap on the 3 dot menu > Adjust Meal.
This will bring up a window where you can see the ingredients and you can also make further adjustments.
