Gold iOS users can take advantage of our Siri Voice Logging feature. This feature allows you to log foods using Siri without having to open the app.

Getting Started
1. Install the Shortcut App if not already there
- Open the App store app on your phone
- Search for "Shortcuts"
- Tap on Get to download the app
2. Turn on the Cronometer Siri shortcut
- Open your Shortcuts app
- Tap on Cronometer
- Tap on the i in the top right
- Toggle on Siri
3. Turn on Siri voice activation
- Open your iPhone Settings
- Tap on Siri (or Apple Intelligence & Siri)
- Tap on Talk to Siri
- Select "Siri" or "Hey Siri" or just "Hey Siri"
- Optional: You can toggle on Press Side Button for Siri, which allows you to activate Siri without having to say "Hey Siri" first
Logging Foods with Siri
- Open up Siri by saying "Hey Siri" or by pressing and holding your phone side button
- Say "Log food in Cronometer" or a similar phrase such as:
"Add food in Cronometer"
"Log food with Cronometer" - Siri will ask which foods you would like to log
- Tell Siri the the food, serving size, and Diary Group, if desired
- A banner will appear at the top of your screen confirming that your item has been logged
- The next time you open Cronometer, you will see a pop up letting you know that you logged items using Siri today
- Your Siri-logged items will appear in your Diary with the Siri icon next to them
Note: We recommend reviewing your Siri-logged foods the next time you open Cronometer to make sure everything was logged correctly.
Helpful tips
Keep iOS up to date
Make sure your iPhone is running the latest version of iOS. Siri voice logging relies on Apple’s Siri and voice recognition systems, so keeping iOS up to date helps ensure the feature works as reliably as possible and includes the latest Siri improvements and bug fixes.
Allow Siri suggestions (Optional)
To help Siri rank Cronometer when resolving ambiguous commands:
- Open your iPhone Settings
- Tap on Siri (or Apple Intelligence & Siri)
- Tap on Apps > Cronometer
- Toggle on Learn from this App and Suggest App
Tune accessibility (Optional)
You can adjust certain settings which are helpful if your commands get cut off and it allows Siri to listen in lock mode.
- Open your iPhone Settings
- Tap on Accessibility > Siri
- You can customize your Siri settings to meet your needs, including:
- Adjust Siri Pause Time and Speaking Rate
- Always Listen for "Siri"
