If you wish to enter a food that you made at home with multiple ingredients, please consider creating a <a href=\"https://support.cronometer.com/hc/en-us/articles/360018510311\">Custom Recipe</a> instead.</p>\n<p>If your food does not have any nutrition information listed on the package, it might be more useful to find a generic version of it from the <a href=\"https://support.cronometer.com/hc/en-us/articles/360018239472\" target=\"_self\">NCCDB or USDA databases</a> instead. For instance, if you cannot find your brand of bananas in our database, instead try adding the NCCDB listing, 'Bananas, Fresh'. Check out this <a href=\"https://cronometer.com/blog/6-tips-getting-nutrition-data/\">Blog Post</a> for more tips and tricks on choosing the best data for your purposes! </p>\n<p>You can create a custom food via two separate paths:</p>\n<ol>\n<li>Selecting Create Food from the Foods tab</li>\n<li>\n<a href=\"https://support.cronometer.com/hc/en-us/articles/360020441392\" target=\"_self\">Scanning a barcode</a> of a food we do not currently have in our database. </li>\n</ol>\n<p>This article will focus on creating a custom food via the<a href=\"https://support.cronometer.com/hc/en-us/articles/360019865411\" target=\"_self\"> foods tab</a> on the Mobile Cronometer app.</p>\n<h2 id=\"h_9144341361181545349165264\">Steps to Create a New Custom Food</h2>\n<h3 id=\"h_01HZ33FD3YW2D08ADZP3JGFHYF\" class=\"wysiwyg-indent1\">Go to the Foods Tab</h3>\n<p>Select the foods tab from the options found at the bottom of the mobile app version of Cronometer.</p>\n<p class=\"wysiwyg-text-align-left\"><img src=\"https://support.cronometer.com/hc/article_attachments/27059229959444\" width=\"300\" height=\"650\"></p>\n<h3 id=\"h_01HZ33FD3YVRQRFH7T3S65E0R0\">Select Create New Food</h3>\n<p class=\"wysiwyg-indent1\">The foods tab has options to Create Recipe, Create Food and Ask the Oracle. As well it contains a library of your custom foods and recipes to easily browse and edit once you have created them.</p>\n<p class=\"wysiwyg-indent1 wysiwyg-text-align-center\"><em>Once you have created custom foods and recipes, to add them to your daily diary, please go to the <a href=\"https://support.cronometer.com/hc/en-us/articles/360018955211\" target=\"_self\">diary</a> tab.</em></p>\n<p class=\"wysiwyg-text-align-left\"><img src=\"https://support.cronometer.com/hc/article_attachments/27059229969684\" width=\"300\" height=\"650\"></p>\n<h3 id=\"h_01HZ33FD3YQ9D1VVEFR6QMPM2Z\" class=\"wysiwyg-text-align-left\">Enter a Food Name</h3>\n<p class=\"wysiwyg-text-align-left wysiwyg-indent1\">We recommend using the naming convention Brand, Product, Flavour to ensure consistent search terms. For example, Honey Almond Granola from the Nature’s Path brand, would be named Nature’s Path, Granola, Honey Almond. </p>\n<p class=\"wysiwyg-indent1 wysiwyg-text-align-left\"><img src=\"https://support.cronometer.com/hc/article_attachments/17165041640724\" width=\"300\" height=\"610\"></p>\n<h3 id=\"h_01HZ33FD3Y8KYF8BRVQBV16AAF\" class=\"wysiwyg-text-align-left\">Enter a Serving Size</h3>\n<p class=\"wysiwyg-indent1 wysiwyg-text-align-left\">Ensure you enter the same serving size as that listed on the packaging at the top of the <a href=\"https://support.cronometer.com/hc/en-us/articles/360018869171\">Nutrition label</a>.</p>\n<p class=\"wysiwyg-text-align-center\"><em>If the serving size is 100 g enter the serving: [<strong>Serving Name</strong><strong>:</strong> 1 Serving <strong>Serving Weight:</strong> 100]</em></p>\n<p class=\"wysiwyg-text-align-center\"><em>If the serving size is 2 cookies 28 g enter the serving: [<strong>Serving Name</strong><strong>:</strong> 2 cookies <strong>Serving Weight:</strong> 28]</em></p>\n<p class=\"wysiwyg-text-align-center\"><em>If the serving size is 4 tablets, enter the serving :  [<strong>Serving Name:</strong> 4 tablets <strong>Serving Weight:</strong> n/a]</em> </p>\n<p class=\"wysiwyg-indent2 wysiwyg-text-align-left\"><img src=\"https://support.cronometer.com/hc/article_attachments/17165048637076\" width=\"300\" height=\"610\"></p>\n<h3 id=\"h_01HZ33FD3Y3FTP51Z9A9F0PF1S\" class=\"wysiwyg-text-align-left\">Enter an alternative serving size if applicable</h3>\n<p class=\"wysiwyg-indent1\">If your product has a second serving size listed, you can enter this as well, as long as both serving sizes are defined by weight. Tap +Add Serving Size after you have entered your first weight-based serving size. You can delete a serving size by swiping it to the left.</p>\n<p class=\"wysiwyg-indent1 wysiwyg-text-align-left\"><img src=\"https://support.cronometer.com/hc/article_attachments/17165069814036\" width=\"300\" height=\"610\">   <img src=\"https://support.cronometer.com/hc/article_attachments/17165109575700\" width=\"300\" height=\"610\"></p>\n<h3 id=\"h_01HZ33FD3Y22X0MS2ER8ED9WG1\" class=\"wysiwyg-text-align-left\">Nutrition Displayed Per</h3>\n<p class=\"wysiwyg-indent1\">Be sure to select the appropriate serving size as displayed on your product's nutrition label.</p>\n<h3 id=\"h_01HZ33FD3Y8BGM5CDHJYJDFKE2\" class=\"wysiwyg-text-align-left\">Select a Nutrition Label Format</h3>\n<p class=\"wysiwyg-indent1\">Different countries use different label formats to display the nutrition data on foods. Please note the type of nutrition label your product is using and select the appropriate option. If you aren't sure, you can learn more about the different label types we support in our User manual article, <a href=\"https://support.cronometer.com/hc/en-us/articles/360018869171\" target=\"_self\">Reading Nutrition Labels</a></p>\n<p class=\"wysiwyg-indent1 wysiwyg-text-align-left\"><img src=\"https://support.cronometer.com/hc/article_attachments/17165137846804\" width=\"300\" height=\"610\"></p>\n<p class=\"wysiwyg-indent1\"> </p>\n<h3 id=\"h_01HZ33FD3Y5G2P9258F69DV48D\" class=\"wysiwyg-text-align-left\">Enter the Nutrition Data</h3>\n<p class=\"wysiwyg-text-align-left wysiwyg-indent1\">Enter the Nutrient values in the appropriate fields. Make sure that the data you are entering is for the serving size that you have indicated in the serving size field.</p>\n<p class=\"wysiwyg-indent2 wysiwyg-text-align-left\"><img src=\"https://support.cronometer.com/hc/article_attachments/17165128579348\" width=\"300\" height=\"610\"></p>\n<p class=\"wysiwyg-text-align-center\"> </p>\n<h3 id=\"h_01HZ33FD3Y7WKJC2E9J9VHSAFM\" class=\"wysiwyg-text-align-left\">Advanced Nutrition</h3>\n<p class=\"wysiwyg-text-align-left wysiwyg-indent1\">Your food's nutrition label may also contain information above and beyond that listed in the main nutrition label. Expand the section labeled Advanced Nutrition Facts to enter up to 82 nutrients</p>\n<p class=\"wysiwyg-indent1 wysiwyg-text-align-center\"> </p>\n<h3 id=\"h_01HZ33FD3YXS04NDJNDWR9XTKM\" class=\"wysiwyg-text-align-left\">Choose a Category</h3>\n<p class=\"wysiwyg-text-align-left wysiwyg-indent1\">Choose the category that best describes your product. For instance, categorize Kraft Mayonnaise in Fats &amp; Oils.</p>\n<p class=\"wysiwyg-text-align-left wysiwyg-indent1\">This step is optional.</p>\n<p class=\"wysiwyg-indent1 wysiwyg-text-align-center\"> </p>\n<h3 id=\"h_01HZ33FD3YVRVKA1WDG30J6DY5\" class=\"wysiwyg-text-align-left\">Add Notes</h3>\n<p class=\"wysiwyg-text-align-left wysiwyg-indent1\">You can add a note if there is anything important that you would like to remember about this food. For instance, you could mention that it is gluten-free, or if you didn’t like this food. These notes are for your purposes only. If you publish your food, the note will not be added to the database.</p>\n<p class=\"wysiwyg-indent2 wysiwyg-text-align-center\"> </p>\n<h3 id=\"h_01HZ33FD3YG6RCVYMQE8B0EMQ5\" class=\"wysiwyg-text-align-left\">Save Your Custom Food</h3>\n<p class=\"wysiwyg-text-align-left wysiwyg-indent1\">Once you are finished entering your details, tap the chevron in the top right corner to move on to the next step and review your nutrients to make sure the data is correct. Here, save it to your library of custom foods. You can also quickly add it to your diary at the same time if you like!</p>\n<p class=\"wysiwyg-indent1 wysiwyg-text-align-left\"><img src=\"https://support.cronometer.com/hc/article_attachments/17165145289748\" width=\"300\" height=\"610\"></p>\n<h2 id=\"h_01HZ33FD3YEKDM5WPRY668X0Y7\" class=\"wysiwyg-text-align-left\">Delete/Retire a Custom Food</h2>\n<p>Delete your custom food by opening the existing custom food from the custom foods list in the foods tab. Then, tap the action menu in the top right corner and choose Delete from the menu that appears.</p>\n<p>If the food has been logged to your Diary, you will be given the choice between 'Delete' and 'Retire'<br><br>Deleting a food will also remove it from your past diary entries.
