If you select pregnant or breastfeeding in your profile, this will also affect your BMR. </p><p style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\">If you'd like to set a Custom BMR, select <strong style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\">Custom</strong> from the drop-down menu &gt; Enter a custom value in the box below.</p><p style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\">This will be a fixed value, unlike using the Mifflin St. Jeor Equation which will fluctuate with changes in your age, sex, height, and weight.</p><p> </p><h2 id=\"h_01JFBAQFS9Q13PCGXGYAFYMGAM\">Baseline Activity &amp; Adjusted Baseline Activity</h2><p style=\"-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: #ffffff; box-sizing: border-box; color: #272a3a; font-family: -apple-system, ' system-ui' , ' Segoe UI' , Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: start; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-decoration-thickness: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;\" data-start=\"127\" data-end=\"519\">At the beginning of the day, your <strong style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\" data-start=\"161\" data-end=\"178\">Energy Burned</strong> will include your <strong style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\" data-start=\"197\" data-end=\"204\">BMR</strong> and your <strong style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\" data-start=\"214\" data-end=\"235\">Baseline Activity</strong>. Your Baseline Activity is an estimate of the energy you burn throughout the day beyond your BMR. If your baseline were set to 0, your Energy Expenditure would start much lower and only increase as your device logs activity, making it harder to plan meals in advance.</p></li>\n<li style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\" data-start=\"1333\" data-end=\"1610\" data-list-item-id=\"ebdc5bbbbd1b405c2005d19ef76171ba1\"><p style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\" data-start=\"1336\" data-end=\"1610\"><strong style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\" data-start=\"1336\" data-end=\"1365\">Credit for untracked time</strong> – If your activity tracker isn’t worn all day (e.g., you forget to put it on, it runs out of battery, or you remove it for certain activities), your Baseline Activity ensures you still receive credit for that time so your Energy Expenditure stays accurate.</p></li>\n</ol><p style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\"> </p><p style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\">Consider the following descriptions when choosing the activity level that is right for you:</p><h3 style=\"box-sizing: border-box; font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, ' Segoe UI' , Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 18px;\" id=\"h_01HHMW1NR9NRJFZH53M1JPPJ7F\"><strong>Sedentary (BMR x 0.2)</strong></h3><p style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\">The Default Activity Setting. Little or no physical activity, typically a desk job or minimal movement throughout the day. </p><p>Example: Office work, watching TV, and minimal walking.</p><h3 style=\"box-sizing: border-box; font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, ' Segoe UI' , Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 18px;\" id=\"h_01HHMW1NR9W1WV9K7TNCGRCRYA\"><strong>Lightly Active (BMR x 0.375)</strong></h3><p style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\">A job that involves some physical activity or light intensity exercise 1-3 days/week.</p><p>Example: Light walking, casual biking, or household chores.</p><h3 style=\"box-sizing: border-box; font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, ' Segoe UI' , Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 18px;\" id=\"h_01HHMW1NR92N8CTDD9XDRTCB5B\"><strong>Moderately Active (BMR x 0.5)</strong></h3><p style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\">Jobs that keep you on your feet most of the day, or moderate intensity exercise 3-5 days/week.</p><p>Example: Gym sessions, running, or active jobs like retail.</p><h3 style=\"box-sizing: border-box; font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, ' Segoe UI' , Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 18px;\" id=\"h_01HHMW1NR9QDCPGE5YQF5G0EXF\"><strong>Very Active (BMR x 0.9)</strong></h3><p style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\">A very physical job, very hard exercise, or physical training. </p><p>Example: Pro athletes, military training, or jobs with continuous high physical activity.</p><h3 style=\"box-sizing: border-box; font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, ' Segoe UI' , Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 18px;\" id=\"h_01HHMW1NR9QZD80VVEW7P14P5G\"><strong>No Activity</strong></h3><p style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\">Health professionals monitoring comatose patients should select this activity level.</p><h3 style=\"box-sizing: border-box; font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, ' Segoe UI' , Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 18px;\" id=\"h_01HHMW1NR9YTJ5HFQ55XPRNHR5\"><strong>Custom</strong></h3><p style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\">Set your own fixed daily value for calories burned due to exercise.</p><p> </p><h2 id=\"h_01JFB1CG41G6YCW3NDHNZMQYN1\">Thermic Effect of Food</h2><p style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\">The thermic effect of food (TEF), also called diet-induced thermogenesis, is the rise in your metabolic rate after eating a meal. It takes energy to digest protein, carbs, fat and alcohol and this contributes a small amount to the total energy you burn in a day. </p><p>By default, this option is toggled OFF.
